Tournament Information

Arts & Sciences Championship Tournament

Rules for the Aquaterra Arts and Sciences Championship 2024:

The theme for this year's Arts and Sciences championship is Heraldry! While traditional heraldry as we think of it may not have existed in every time and place throughout history, visual arts and visual identification certainly did.

For the competition, be prepared to share one creation appropriate to your persona that uses heraldry as inspiration. The degree of inspiration is up to you, from color palette all the way to full representation of your device/badge.
If you do not have a device or badge registered, don't fret! Both the Kingdom of An Tir and the Barony of Aquaterra have their own devices, as well as badges meant for use by their populaces. Any of these is a wonderful jumping off point to begin to explore heraldic display.

The requirements for this year's competition are as follows:

  1. Write a research document about it. – No need to panic. – we expect a minimum of ONE page but you can do more if you like. We have a basic outline that you can use as a guide available if you are interested.
Please bring 3 copies of your documentation so the judges have the ability to read it independently. (I can print them in color for you if you send them to me at least one week before Good Yule.)
  2. Have something to show – it could be the thing, a poster with pictures, a performance – you get the idea!
  3. Be ready for your presentation to be about 10 minutes (I promise it is not as hard as it may sound). Please do not read directly from your paper.

We will have a panel of selected participants at Good Yule to judge presentations. We will use the Kingdom Judging form – but don't worry too much about that, please have fun with this. The goal is to learn more about you, and help you practice working on an Arts & Sciences project.

Please feel free to contact me at sibba.in.froda@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you need any assistance.

Bardic Championship Tournament

Rules for next bardic:

Have three prepared pieces

  1. One to make people smile, laugh, or groan (like with a really good/bad pun)
  2. One to be a lullaby. Can be a tune, a bedtime story, or a meditation.
  3. One to help relieve stress through tears. Tell a touching story. Can be sad, a remembrance of someone passed, or a memory

A 4th is draw of two markers from a sealed box. Random items. Make up a story that uses those two things as a part of that story.

1/2 Dozen Largesse

Make 6 or 12 similar items suitable for largesse. Preferably useful items for newcomers. Voting by populace choice. The winner gets to pick out one item to keep, with the remaining names pulled randomly. The remainder goes to our Barony.
